Update: 4th June 2021 – HSVFest Dates Changed to 20-23 August 2021

The HSVFest Organising Team has been advised that under the current Victorian Government lockdown requirements we will not be able to access the Motorsport venue in Wodonga on 13th June 2021, which leaves us no alternative other than to move HSVFest 2021 from 11-14 June to the new dates of Friday 20th – Monday 23rd August 2021.

This is not a long weekend but we are hopeful that with sufficient notice, entrants will be able to get that extra day off work to join us in August.

These dates are the only dates that we were able to re-book both the Gateway Lakes for the Show n Shine and the Wodonga Driver Training Centre on the same weekend.

This late change has necessitated us to make some modifications to the usual HSVFest 2021 format in August:

  1. There will be no Saturday Night dinner at the Thurgoona Resort. They have a wedding booked on the Saturday night and all the accommodation at the Thurgoona Resort has also been booked on the Saturday night as well. So if you have an accommodation booking at the Thurgoona Resort we recommend that you don’t cancel it, but move your booking to 10th to 13th June 2022, and then book elsewhere for 20th to 23rd August 2021.   2. There will still be two Dinners at the Thurgoona Resort. The first will be a meet and greet dinner on the night of Friday 20th August and the second will be the main Show n Shine and Motorsport Presentation Dinner, which will be held on Sunday night 22nd August 2021. Meal choices made for Saturday 12th June will be moved to Friday 20th August. Your Sunday meal selections will remain the same as ordered for 13th June.
  3. There will be no buses this year between the Siesta and Thurgoona Resorts on either the Friday night or Sunday night. Entrants who want to have a drink will need to sort out a designated driver. Those who have already paid for bus seats will receive a refund.
  4. There will be no organised Saturday evening meal. Entrants are free to make their own arrangements for dinner and entertainment on Saturday night 21st August.
  5. Because we are not now having the Red Rooster / Spit Roast meal on Friday night, we will be providing a free HSVFest face mask to all entrants, which represents a similar value to that meal. These face masks may be compulsory to have with you dependent on what the Victorian Government requirements are at the time. They will also be a great memento of the Covid-19 impact on HSVFest over the last two years.

Please let us know by email (to webmaster@hsvclubnsw.com) if you need to cancel your HSVFest 2021 entry because you can’t make it on the above dates in August. Refunds for merchandise orders will not be given. Merchandise orders from refunded entries will be available for collection at a future local Club General meeting. A refund will be given to each entrant for the remainder of their entry payment. The Motorsport One Day Licence application forms of refunded entries will not be forwarded to Motorsport Australia so the $25 licence cost will not be processed.

If you can’t make it on Friday night 20th August, but can come down on Saturday 21st, please let us know and we’ll cancel your Friday evening meal at the Thurgoona Resort, and refund you accordingly.

HSVFest is only open to members of an HSV Owners Club that is listed on the official HSV Owners Club’s website.

Owners of a genuine HDT or HSV bearing an original build plate (excluding HSVi) living in NSW or ACT who are not members of an HSV Owners Club have options to join, including a 6 months HSVFest Temporary Club Membership that will allow entry to this year’s event. Non HSVOC members may enter HSVFest as long as they gain financial membership by Sunday 1st August 2021. HSVFest entrants who are not financial HSVOC members at this date will have their entry and orders cancelled and payments fully refunded.

The HSVFest philosophy is to provide the maximum amount of fun for HSVOC members and their cars at prices which families can afford. This event is run to cover costs and does not provide any income for participating clubs or the Organising Team.

As a condition of entry, HSVFest entrants must abide by the HSVFest Code of Conduct. This Code has been designed to maximise the enjoyment of all as anti-social behaviour in contravention of this Code is subject to penalties ranging from loss of competition points to exclusion from the event. Getting to HSVFest

ACT Club:

The ACT Club will meet at Yass truck stop on the Hume highway for an 8:45am briefing then a cruise down to the Siesta Resort 416/422 Wagga Rd, North Albury NSW 2641, Phone: (02) 6025 4555 as follows: 9:00am depart Yass servo (2hrs / 210 kms) 11:30am arrive Holbrooke 1 hour food and fuel 12:30pm depart Holbrooke (45min / 58 kms) 1:15pm arrive Siesta Resort to check in, clean our cars and register for the event.

Victorian Club:

The Victorian Club will be meeting at Wallan BP. Cruise to the Siesta Resort 416/422 Wagga Rd, North Albury NSW 2641, Phone: (02) 6025 4555 as follows: Meet up at Wallan BP Hume Fwy Wallan leaving at 9:15am. Quick stop over to stretch your legs and grab a coffee at the Glenrowan BP then arrive at the Siesta around 1:00pm to check in, wash your cars and register for the event.

NSW Club:

The NSW Club will meet at the Pheasants Nest Caltex/Ampol Truck Stop for an 8:45am briefing then a cruise down to the Siesta Resort 416/422 Wagga Rd, North Albury NSW 2641, Phone: (02) 6025 4555. Itinerary is as follows: 9:00am depart Pheasants Nest (1:15 / 116 kms) 10:15 arrive Goulburn 30 mins morning tea & fuel 10:45 depart Goulburn (1:50 / 181 kms) 12:35 arrive Gundagai 45 mins lunch and fuel 1:10 depart Gundagai (1:50 / 178 kms) 3:00 arrive Siesta Resort to check in, clean our cars and register for the event. A second convoy will leave Pheasants Nest at the same time and only make the one stop at the Yass BP Service Centre at around 11:00am and departing around 11:30am. Members are welcome to join either convoy.

SA Club:

Registration & Dinner

5:30pm Registration and collection of Entry Packs in the Dining Room of the Thurgoona Resort. These packs will include HSVFest face masks and lanyards which will be specific to each entrant and must be worn for entry to activities and for the provision of pre-paid meals. One lanyard will be allocated to each person who enters and will contain the details of meals and other activities that have been paid for in the member’s entry. Packs will also contain a windscreen sticker for each car that the member has entered into the Show and Motorsport Day. It is recommended that these stickers aren’t applied until at the event as dew or frost can damage the printing on them. A free HSVFest face mask value $10 will be included in each entry pack as well.

The Friday night 2 course dinner will be held at the Thurgoona Country Club Resort, 1 Evesham Place, Thurgoona NSW 2640. This is our “Meet and Greet” Dinner and interaction between all entrants is encouraged. Meals from the fixed price Menu (below)  will also need to be prepaid.

There will be no coaches available for this rescheduled event. If you wish to have a drink we recommend that you sort out a designated driver to and from the Thurgoona Resort.

Shannons Show n Shine

For the first time, the Shannons Show ‘n’ Shine will be held at Gateway Lakes, Lemke Rd, Gateway Island VIC 3691 and is being organised by the Victorian Club at a very reasonable $15.00 per vehicle entry cost.

How to get there: Traveling southbound on the Hume Motorway from Albury, take the C315 Beechworth exit, keeping right and turning right at the first set of traffic lights which will take you under the motorway overpass. Keep to the left two lanes under the overpass and proceed straight ahead at the next set of lights and head north along the Lincoln Causeway. Continue until you see the Gateway Village on the right and turn into Lemke Road on your left. Turn right at the Gateway Lakes T intersection and proceed around to the venue entrance on your left.

Display your car in your Club’s allocated area as directed by your club’s officials. Cars will not only competing with each other, but as clubs for the HSVFest Show n Shine Shield which will be presented together with the winners trophies at the presentation dinner later that night.

A Bites N Beverages Mobile Cafe van will be at the Show n Shine for coffee and snacks, and the Mens Shed will be providing a sausage sizzle, both at the entrants cost on the day.

Saturday schedule:

8:00am Bump in opens at Gateway Lakes. Display cars in your Club’s allocated areas.

9:00am Bump in closes, car and display preparation time

10:00am Judging commences. Car preparation ceases & the Show is open to the Public

1:00pm Show concludes.

1:00-5:00pm Choice of other Saturday Afternoon activities as below.

The Classes for the Show ‘n’ Shine are:

Elite (Cars travelled less than 5000km a year and includes the current year’s model)

Show’n’Shine (Cars travelled between 5000km to 10000km a year)

Daily Driven (Cars travelled more than 10000km a year)

Modified (Cars that have more than 5 significant modifications must enter this Class. For example a set of Simmons rims is classed as 4 modifications)

Judging will be conducted in 4 broad categories and scored out of 100. A maximum of 30 points will be awarded for Exterior (Paint work, glass & lights, body & trim condition), Interior (Dashboard, steering wheel, console, pedals, doors, carpets & floor covering, headlining seats and seat-belts) and Engine Bay (Engine, engine bay, underside of bonnet, firewall, build plates, decals, exhaust system, intake system) categories and a maximum of 10 points for Wheels & Tyres (General cleanliness, scratches, blemishes). Each judge will assess only one category in order to maintain consistency. Judges will be appointed from each State Club and cannot assess their own cars. Results will be announced at dinner that evening.

Shannons will also be presenting the Shannons Choice Trophy to their pick of the Day.

Saturday Afternoon Activities

After the Show and Shine, there is a choice of 4 activities.

  1. Dyno Shootout at LS Engineering, 8/32 Fallon Street, Albury, New South Wales (Next to Albury Airport) starting at 1:30pm. Cost is $70.00 per entrant on the Roller Dyno (power at the tyres) and $100.00 per entrant for the Hub Dyno (power at the axles). Everyone gets 2 runs, a dyno sheet plus bragging rights. Spectators are welcome.
  2. A drive to a local Winery.
  3. A family friendly cruise to mystery destination.
  4. An afternoon chill out at the members discretion at Gateway Lakes or as organised by yourself.

Saturday night will have no organised meals or activities. Entrants are free to make their own arrangements in Albury / Wogonga for their dinner and entertainment.


Sunday is a Motorsport Fun Day at the Wodonga Driving Centre under Motorsport Australia Permit number 121/1306/01. It will start off with timed single vehicle track sprints followed after lunch with Motorkhana Eliminations on a layout specially designed to suit our larger, powerful cars.

A Bites N Beverages Mobile Cafe van will be at the Motorsport for coffee and snacks, at the entrants cost on the day.

There will be a limit of 55 cars to ensure maximum track time. Entry priority will be given to cars that were in the Show ‘n’ Shine the previous day and the balance will be based on the earliest entry date.

Cost will be $90.00 per vehicle which includes a sausage sandwich lunch. Spectators can also prepay to have the same lunch for the same $5.00 as competitors.

All participants (ie drivers) will need to have a current Motorsport Australia Competitor Licence. If you don’t have a current Motorsport Australia Licence you will be able to Download a 1 Day Motorsport Australia Introductory Licence form by clicking here. Cost is only $25.00 and you will need to include your credit card details on the form as payment will be to Motorsport Australia direct.

This Introductory Licence will need to be completed, signed and emailed back to hsvfest@hsvclubnsw.com by no later than Sunday 1st August 2021.

If you don’t have a Motorsport Australia licence you will not be able to compete if you have not returned your completed Introductory Licence form by the above date.

Those with a Motorsport Australia competitor Licence will need to include their licence number when entering online, as this will need to be checked for currency prior to the event.

Entrants will be allocated competition numbers and divided into 5 Groups of up to 11 competitors. Competition and Group numbers will be pre-printed on the event windscreen stickers and where possible we’ll try to keep Club members together in a groups with those from the same Club.

Double Entries will be permitted with two drivers using the one car. Just be aware that if you want to do this, each driver will be placed in a separate Group with another in between for the morning track sessions, and drivers will need to take turns in the afternoon Go to Whoa sessions which will mean only half the afternoon track time each.

Under the Motorsport Australia “Return to Race” protocols, drivers must self-scrutineer their vehicles prior to the event as no formal scrutineering will take place, other than random visual checks by the Chief Scrutineer. Cars may not have any loose items in the cabin, any cameras must have a secondary mount (cable ties) to prevent them hitting the driver if they come loose, battery’s must be firmly clamped and no fluid leaks will be allowed (water condensation excluded).

Motorsport participants must also download a copy of the Motorsport Australia General Disclaimer/Declaration and after reading it, sign it and return a copy of the signed Declaration to the HSVFest organisers by email at hsvfest@hsvclubnsw.com.

This year we need to be “paperless” per our COVID-19 Plan, so Motorsport Participants Declarations will now be handled and filed digitally.

Track Sprints

Competitors are to line up in their respective Groups and will be let out onto the track in competition number sequence. The initial group does not need to be formed in number sequence as that will be organised by officials when commencing each Group’s first run.

Cars are to form a queue (in number order) at the start line and when given the starting instruction proceed at pace until crossing the timing line at the finish before bringing the car to a complete stop before the control line. When stopped, competitors will be able to see the time for their run and then proceed to queue back with their Group in competition number order. This will be repeated for three runs.

Go to Whoa

At 1:00pm competition will cease for 30 minutes while officials have lunch and set up the Go to Whoa course. All vehicles will be relocated by driving around the track and forming a queue at the control line at the end of the track, facing the Go to Whoa course entry.

Vehicles will be called to pre-staging, then side by side into 2 staging areas before moving to side by side two start lines. Upon the drop of the starters arms both cars are to race in a straight line to their respective “garages” (marked by cones) at the end of the course. The first car to come to a complete halt entirely within their garage is the winner of that round and then proceeds by turning left and staging with the other round winners alongside of the concrete wall on the other side of the competition course. Each car that has been eliminated is to turn right and proceed around the track and join the queue for the next run. Cars will be disqualified for starting before the starters arms (not body) start to move. Dead heats will be re-run. Judges decisions will be final.

Once every car has had a run, the winners of the previous elimination will compete against each other in the same manner until only one car remains and that car will be the winner of that round.

7:45am Leave for the Wodonga Motorsport Complex Upon arrival form a queue at the gates to the competition area for your car to have its competition numbers applied.

7:45-8:45am Scrutineering, Competition Number application and staging of cars into Groups.

8:45am Compulsory Drivers Briefing

9:00-1:00pm Timed track sprints start (4 runs)

1:00-1:30pm Sausage sandwich lunch. Free to competitors, $5.00 for spectators (to be pre-paid). Go to Whoa course set up.

1:30-3:00pm Go to Whoa Eliminations (3 runs)

3:00-3:15pm Fastest Female Go to Whoa Eliminations

3:15pm Photoshoot, then everyone helps with the clean-up

4:00pm event closed.

Presentation Dinner

The Sunday night 2 course Presentation Dinner will be held at the Thurgoona Country Club Resort, 1 Evesham Place, Thurgoona NSW 2640. Both the Show n Shine and Motorsport presentations will take place at this dinner. Menu and cost is the same as the Friday Night dinner.

Cruising Home

Monday is a Cruise back home at your leisure, either with your Club’s convoy, with some friends or by yourself. Please check with your Club’s event organiser for details of when and where your Club’s convoy will depart.
